MediaWiki default: Create Clergy sector page

Clergy
Takashima has a spiritual dimension that does not follow the same rules as the rest of the island. The Clergy is the oldest, most mysterious, and least understood sub-community on TRP — and that is entirely by design.

Where other sectors deal in politics, money, law, or survival, the Clergy deals in meaning. In faith. In the things that cannot be explained by the anatomy system or the legal code.

----

The Spiritual World of Takashima
Takashima's religious and metaphysical landscape is shaped by its history, its geography, and its people. Religions exist, institutions have been built around them, and belief — or the performance of belief — plays a role in the social fabric of the island.

What the Clergy involves:

* Religious institutions — temples, churches, shrines, and the organisations that maintain them
* Clergy characters — priests, monks, spiritual leaders, and those who walk the line between faith and power
* Ritual and ceremony — the rites that mark birth, death, marriage, conflict, and the turning of seasons
* Community and counsel — offering guidance, mediation, and sanctuary to those who seek it

The Clergy is one of the few spaces on TRP where ambiguity is a feature. Belief is personal. What is sacred to one character may be superstition to another. There are no correct answers in the Clergy — only interpretations.

----

The Kamis
Takashima is home to entities known as Kamis — supernatural beings that exist beyond the boundaries of ordinary human life. They are the only exception to TRP's human-only character rule, and they are played exclusively by staff members.

Kamis are not gods in a conventional sense. They do not intervene predictably, they do not follow rules players can anticipate, and their motivations are not always comprehensible. An encounter with a Kami is rare. What it means is rarely clear.

Their existence is acknowledged within the Clergy but interpreted differently by different traditions. Some see Kamis as divine protectors. Others as ancient dangers. Others as tests.

----

Legends & The Unknown
Takashima has a history that predates the current community — legends, myths, and stories that circulate among characters who have been on the island long enough to hear them. Some of these stories have roots in things that actually happened. Others may be entirely fabricated. The Clergy is the custodian of this oral history.

What is real, what is metaphor, and what is outright fiction is left deliberately unanswered. The mystery is the point.

----

Getting Into Clergy RP
The Clergy is not a career path with a clear entry point. It tends to find players as much as players find it. A character drawn to philosophy, ritual, or the unexplained naturally gravitates toward it. So does a character who has witnessed something they cannot explain.

See Roleplay for how the spiritual dimension of Takashima interacts with its more earthly concerns.

Education
Takashima has a functioning high school and university — and they are not decoration. Education is how the server's systems are learned: not through a tutorial screen or a wiki guide, but through RP.

A player who wants to become a surgeon does not read a plugin manual. They enrol, attend lectures, complete practicals, and graduate. The plugin knowledge is embedded in the curriculum. The learning happens in character.

This is one of the most distinctive features of TRP, and it makes the Education sector unlike anything else on the server.

----

How It Works
Educational institutions on Takashima run structured programmes taught by player-characters who are qualified in their field. A medical professor is a player who is themselves a practising doctor. A law lecturer is a player lawyer. Knowledge is transferred the way it would be in reality — by people who have it, to people who want it.

What you might study:

* Medicine — anatomy, surgery techniques, emergency response, pharmacology
* Law — criminal law, civil law, contracts, court procedure
* Business & Economics — management, accounting, market dynamics, trade
* Engineering & Technical Studies — construction, systems, infrastructure
* Political Science — governance, policy, public administration
* Other disciplines as institutions grow and staff are available

Graduating from a programme does not grant special permissions. It grants legitimacy — the IC credential that justifies your character's expertise, opens professional doors, and grounds your RP in something earned rather than assumed.

----

The Institutions
Takashima's educational landscape is shaped by the players who build and run it. Schools need administrators, teachers, and students. They need funding, facilities, and relevance. An institution that nobody attends ceases to matter. One that produces competent graduates becomes essential to the island's professional class.

Staff at educational institutions are player characters with their own careers, motivations, and histories. A professor may also be a practicing lawyer, a government adviser, or someone with complicated affiliations.

----

Why It Matters
Education creates the pipeline for every other sector. The surgeons in EMS, the lawyers in Public Administration, the accountants in Business — many of them came through institutions where other players taught them. The Education sector is where the next generation of specialists is made.

It is also one of the quieter, slower-paced spaces on TRP — a counterpoint to the urgency of crime or emergency response.

Business
Takashima's economy is entirely player-driven. Every business that exists was founded, staffed, and sustained by players. There are no NPC shops, no scripted markets, no guaranteed income. If a business fails, it closes. If a market is saturated, prices fall. If a resource becomes scarce, someone finds an opportunity.

Business RP is the legal backbone of Takashima's economy — and the most open-ended sector on the server.

----

What You Can Build
There is no fixed list of permitted business types. If it can exist realistically and players want to build it, it can exist on Takashima. Some examples of what has existed or could exist:

* Restaurants, cafés, bars, and food suppliers
* Law firms and notary offices
* Construction companies and real estate
* Media outlets — newspapers, radio, broadcasting
* Banks and financial institutions
* Import/export companies and logistics
* Security firms and private contractors
* Medical clinics and private practices
* Transport and delivery services

Businesses can be small sole operations or large corporations with hierarchies, departments, and employees. The scale is limited only by how much effort players are willing to invest.

----

The Economy in Practice
Businesses do not operate in a vacuum. They interact with the government through taxes, regulation, and contracts. They interact with the criminal world through extortion, black market suppliers, or money laundering. They compete with each other, form partnerships, and sometimes collapse dramatically.

A successful business requires:
* A realistic product or service with genuine demand
* Employees who show up and do the work in character
* Management of costs, pricing, and relationships
* Navigation of the political and legal environment

The rules governing business conduct are in Rules — Business & Economics.

----

Legitimate vs. Grey Area
Not all businesses operate cleanly. A seemingly legitimate company can be a front for criminal money. A law firm might represent clients whose interests conflict with the law. A bank might facilitate transactions that raise questions.

The line between Business and Crime is often a matter of how visible you are — and who you know in Public Administration.

----

Getting Into Business RP
Decide what your character does for a living and commit to it. Build clientele through RP. Hire people you meet in character. The most sustainable businesses are built on real relationships, not just mechanics.

EMS
EMS stands for Emergency Medical Services — but on Takashima, the term covers both branches of emergency response: law enforcement and healthcare. The people who show up when things go wrong.

These are among the most demanding roles on the server. They respond to the consequences of everything else — the aftermath of gang wars, the victims of crime, accidents, and medical emergencies. They are reactive by nature, and their effectiveness shapes the entire dynamic of the island.

----

Law Enforcement
Takashima's police force is player-run. Officers patrol, investigate, make arrests, and build cases. There are no auto-detecting systems — if a crime goes unwitnessed, it may go unpunished. If an investigation is poorly handled, a case collapses.

Law enforcement RP includes:

* Patrol — maintaining a visible presence, responding to calls, and keeping order
* Criminal investigation — gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, building prosecutable cases
* Arrests & processing — detaining suspects, respecting due process, working with the legal system
* Tactical operations — coordinated responses to high-risk situations like hostage scenarios or armed standoffs
* Inter-agency politics — police departments have internal hierarchies, budgets set by government, and relationships with prosecutors and courts

Officers operate under the law as it stands — which is defined by the government. Policy can change. What an officer is authorised to do today may be different next month.

----

Healthcare
Takashima's medical system is built on a realistic anatomy model. Injuries are not binary — characters have limbs, organs, and blood. Damage is specific and treatment must match it. A stab wound is not the same as a broken arm; a vital organ hit requires a different response than a laceration.

Medical RP includes:

* Emergency response — arriving on scene, stabilising patients, making triage decisions
* Surgery — detailed, procedural operations on injured characters using the server's medical systems
* Diagnosis & treatment — identifying conditions and managing recovery
* Trauma RP — the human side of emergency medicine, including the weight of loss when treatment fails

The medical team works closely with law enforcement — they share scenes, share information, and sometimes have conflicting priorities. A doctor's obligation is to the patient regardless of who they are.

----

The Reality of EMS RP
EMS roles are not always glamorous. You wait, then you respond. Cases are often urgent, sometimes chaotic, and occasionally fatal. The best EMS players are disciplined, communicate well, and stay in character under pressure.

It is also one of the most socially connected roles on the server — EMS characters interact with almost everyone, from the criminal bleeding out in an alley to the politician in need of a discreet physician.

See Rules — Combat & Anatomy for the anatomy system that governs injuries and treatment. See Roleplay for how EMS connects to the rest of Takashima.

Public Administration
Takashima is governed entirely by its players. There are no NPC mayors, no scripted elections, no predetermined political outcomes. The government is built by people who chose to pursue power through legitimate means — and it can be challenged, corrupted, reformed, or dismantled by the same community that created it.

Public Administration covers everything that makes a society function: political parties, elections, legislation, law enforcement policy, civic institutions, and the daily work of keeping an island running.

----

The Political Landscape
Political life on Takashima is organised around — player-created movements with real ideologies, real platforms, and real stakes. Parties campaign, form coalitions, win or lose elections, and hold or lose power.

Elected officials and appointed administrators make decisions that affect the entire server:

* What is legal and what is criminal
* How law enforcement operates and what resources it has
* Tax policy, public services, infrastructure
* How disputes between citizens or institutions are resolved
* What protections or freedoms ordinary players have

These are not symbolic decisions. A Governor who legalises a substance changes the criminal economy overnight. A legislature that defunds the police shifts the balance of power toward organised crime. The consequences are real and felt across all of Takashima.

----

Law & The Justice System
Takashima has a functioning legal system — courts, trials, verdicts, and sentences are all conducted through RP. Players can be lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and defendants. Cases with real IC stakes are argued and decided in character.

The rules governing political and governmental conduct are outlined in Rules — Politics & Governance.

----

Civic Life Beyond Politics
Public Administration is not only for those chasing elected office. There is room for:

* Civil servants and bureaucrats managing day-to-day government functions
* Journalists and media figures holding power to account
* Lawyers, notaries, and legal professionals
* Lobbyists representing business, criminal, or community interests
* Activists, protesters, and grassroots organisers

The civic layer of Takashima is as rich as the criminal one — and the two are always in tension.

----

Getting Into PA RP
Join or found a political party, run for office, work in a government department, or simply be an engaged citizen. PA RP rewards patience, strategy, and an investment in the long game. Power built slowly tends to last longer.
----

What Criminal RP Looks Like
Criminal RP on TRP spans every level of the spectrum:

* Street level — hustlers, small-time dealers, muscle for hire, getaway drivers. The foot soldiers of the underworld.
* Organised crime — structured groups with hierarchies, territories, codes of conduct, and long-term ambitions. Families, cartels, syndicates, crews.
* High-stakes operations — bank heists, kidnappings, large-scale trafficking, coordinated attacks on rival groups or public institutions.
* The shadow economy — black markets, fencing stolen goods, illegal contracts, money laundering through legitimate fronts.

Criminal groups interact with every other part of Takashima society. They bribe politicians, extort businesses, clash with law enforcement, and sometimes operate in plain sight under a legitimate cover.

----

Territory & Power
Control of territory is one of the defining currencies of criminal RP. Groups stake claims, defend them, and challenge rivals. Territory disputes can be settled through negotiation, intimidation, or outright violence — and the outcome has real consequences for what happens in those areas.

Power in the criminal world is never guaranteed. A group at the top today can be dismantled by law enforcement, betrayed from within, or overwhelmed by a rival coalition tomorrow.

----

The Legal Line
What is illegal on Takashima is determined by the government — which is run by players. This means the legal landscape can shift. Something criminalised today could be legalised tomorrow if the right party wins an election and passes the right law. Criminal organisations sometimes operate in legal grey zones, lobby for favourable legislation, or deliberately exploit regulatory gaps.

The Rules — Criminal Activities section governs how criminal RP must be conducted.

----

Getting Into Criminal RP
There is no application form or whitelist for criminal RP. You build your character, establish their story, and make choices. Criminal organisations may recruit through RP — you meet people, earn trust, and work your way in. Starting alone as a small-time criminal and growing into something larger is a completely valid path.

See Roleplay for the full picture of how criminal activity intersects with the rest of Takashima.

Takashima RP is a SandboxRP server — meaning there is no scripted progression, no NPC-driven economy, and no predetermined story. Everything that happens on Takashima is the result of player choices, player politics, and player consequences.

The island does not give you a role. You carve one out.

This section is a window into the different worlds that exist within Takashima — not a rulebook, but a map of what's possible. Each sub-community represents a dimension of life on the island. They overlap, collide, and shape each other constantly. A law passed by the government affects what's criminal. A gang war disrupts the economy. A hospital understaffed means criminals recover faster than victims.

Nothing here is fixed. Takashima is a living world, and what is true today may not be true tomorrow.

Takashima RP (TRP) is a player-driven roleplay server set on the fictional Japanese island of Takashima. The server runs on Minecraft with a custom suite of plugins designed to support realistic, immersive roleplay.

TRP operates on a SandboxRP philosophy: there are no NPC-controlled institutions. Businesses, political parties, criminal organisations, law enforcement, and government bodies are all run entirely by players.
